The primary purpose of pre puppy school is socialisation at an early age with other dogs and other people and to introduce good lead control without stress. Its purpose is also to familiarise your dog with commands that will make both your lives more enjoyable. Puppy Pre-School is a must for any owner wanting a well behaved, sociable dog. These classes are designed for puppies between the ages of 8 and 14 weeks, as it is much easier to teach your puppy correctly from the start rather than having to correct bad behaviour later. When you first bring your puppy home he/she is going through a very important and critical learning period in their lives.  Habits and behaviours that you allow now will be with your puppy for the rest of their lives. If you can start your puppy off on the right track now you will have less problems later. Each year thousands of dogs are destroyed or end up in pounds and animal shelters (and are eventually euthanised) due to behavioural problems developed later in life. Puppy Pre-School provides a safe environment for your puppy to socialise and classes are kept small so time can be spent with each puppy and their owners.

At Moorabbin our training instructors will show you how to train your dog, commencing with on-lead exercises and progressing to off-lead work.

Training is teaching your dog to respond in a certain manner to commands, these commands can be verbal or can be in the form of hand signals. At MODC we use a wide variety of training methods to suit all handlers including but not limited to positive reinforcement rewards such as food, toys and praise.

We have a special class for Puppies 3-6 months, where we focus on socialisation as well as basic obedience.

Once your dog has met a certain standard in Obedience and is at least 10 months, you can start Agility classes. Here we spend time introducing the equipment to both handler and dog, gradually advancing to the full Agility Ring at trialling standard.

Please note there is an expectation that all of the dogs joining agility will attend all of the10 weekly Foundation lessons, that weekly readings are completed and that homework with your dog will be done daily.

Rally Obedience (also known as Rally-O) is a fun, new dog-sport based on traditional dog Obedience but carried out in a more informal and relaxed style. Unlike in traditional obedience, handlers are allowed to encourage their dogs during the course, so you may use as much verbal praise and petting as you like.
It can be a great way to increase your bond with your dog, and to help you and your dog develop skills that can be applied in everyday life.
